About Taos County Court Records

Court and public records in Taos County, New Mexico sit across the Eighth Judicial District Court, Taos Magistrate Court, Taos Municipal Court, the Taos County Clerk, Probate Court, the Sheriff's Office, and the Adult Detention Center. This site organizes those official access points so readers can identify the right court, clerk, portal, address, or phone number before starting a records request.

Why We Built This Site

New Mexico gives the public broad access to many public records through the Inspection of Public Records Act, court rules, and official court portals. The difficult part in Taos County is matching the record to the correct custodian. District Court case files, Magistrate Court cases, municipal citations, county land records, marriage licenses, probate matters, detention records, and sheriff records do not all come from one office.

Taos County also has a split-clerk structure. The court clerk function belongs to the New Mexico Judiciary through the Eighth Judicial District Court and Magistrate Court offices. The Taos County Clerk is a separate county office that records documents, issues marriage licenses, accepts county public-records requests, and serves as clerk to the Probate Court.

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site. It is not part of Taos County, the New Mexico Judiciary, the Sheriff's Office, the Town of Taos, or any state or federal agency. There are real limits to what we can help with:

  • We cannot file paperwork or send records requests on your behalf
  • We cannot issue certified copies of court, marriage, divorce, probate, jail, warrant, or land records
  • We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific New Mexico case applies to you
  • We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, office hour, or address listed on this site is current right now

Only the issuing Taos County or New Mexico government office can provide a certified copy with an official seal.

Search Partners

Some pages include search boxes powered by third-party providers. Those companies run their own services and set their own pricing. When a search tool leads to a paid signup, this site may earn a referral fee. That revenue helps keep the reference pages available without charging readers for the local office, portal, and request-path information.
